She Ministry

Personal Information Protection Policy

She Ministry is based in Alberta, Canada, and adheres to Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act. If you are located outside Alberta, by providing your information, you consent to its collection and handling according to this policy.

She Ministry is committed to safeguarding the personal information entrusted to us by our community. We manage your personal information in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable laws. This policy outlines the principles and practices we follow to protect your personal information.

This policy applies to She Ministry team members and volunteers. It also applies to any individual or organization providing services on our behalf.

A copy of this policy is available to any member of our community upon request.

What is Personal Information?

Personal information refers to details about an identifiable individual. This includes:

  • your name

  • home address

  • phone number

  • age, gender, marital or family status

  • email address

  • any other identifying information you may share with us voluntarily

What Personal Information Do We Collect?

At She Ministry, we collect only the personal information necessary to:

  • open and manage an account on our community

  • provide access to our resources

  • keep in touch about events, updates, and ministry-related offerings

  • understand the needs of our community to improve our resources and outreach

  • follow up with community members when appropriate

We normally collect information directly from you. Sometimes, with your consent or as permitted by law, we may receive your information from others.

We inform individuals at the time of collection (or before) why we are gathering their information—unless it is clear from the context (e.g., when you provide your email to subscribe to our newsletter).

Consent

If you provide us with your email or other contact information, you are consenting to the terms of this privacy policy and allowing us to use that information for ministry-related communication.

In situations where the reason for collecting your information is clear, your voluntary submission implies consent. For other uses, we may ask for your explicit consent—either orally, in writing, or through a form or button online.

You may withdraw your consent at any time, unless the information is necessary to meet a legal requirement. We will honor your choice, though certain communications or services may be unavailable without this information.

We may collect, use, or disclose personal information without consent only when legally authorized—for example, in emergencies, legal investigations, or situations involving safety.

How Do We Use and Share Personal Information?

We use and disclose personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected, unless otherwise authorized or required by law.

For example, we may use your email to:

  • provide access to She Ministry community

  • subscribe you to our newsletter

  • deliver free Christian resources you’ve requested

  • send updates about ministry events, content, or new offerings

How Do We Protect Personal Information?

We take appropriate steps to ensure your personal information is accurate and up to date. If any information you’ve shared with us changes, we ask that you let us know so we can make updates.

We protect personal information based on its sensitivity and make reasonable efforts to prevent its loss, misuse, unauthorized access, or disclosure.

In the event of a data breach that poses a risk of significant harm, we will notify the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta as required.

We keep personal information only as long as necessary to serve the original purpose or meet legal obligations. When no longer needed, we either securely destroy the information or anonymize it so it cannot be linked to any individual.
